About Us
The L.A. Times Guild represents more than 300 editorial employees at the Los Angeles Times. The editorial staff includes reporters, photographers, videojournalists, copy editors, digital producers, audience engagement editors, assistant editors, art directors, page designers, and other workers — all essential to producing the journalism that keeps Angelenos informed and connected.
Times journalists made history by voting to unionize, 248 to 44, in January 2018. We won our first contract in October 2019. The groundbreaking agreement led to an average raise of more than $11,000 per person in its first year, established new salary minimums and regular step increases based on industry experience, set limits on the company’s ability to outsource union work, created just-cause job protections, expanded parental leave and much more.
We are a unit of Media Guild of the West (The NewsGuild-CWA 39213).
